Detective Nathan Wolf might just be a junior detective, but he tackles every case with the passion that he lacks in his personal life. A series of failed relationships with women has left him still single at thirty-four—because he's too scared to admit to his longtime crush on his best friend James.

Dr. James Taggert likes to keep his profession as a psychiatrist separate from his party-animal persona. Known around the gay clubs as "Tag", he's the guy who screws them, leaves them, and never looks back. But James's drinking is getting heavier, and when bad memories from the past resurface, he's close to becoming the worst version of himself.

After a drunken blackout ends in a hot and heavy make-out session with his very straight best friend, James has no memory of the steamy affair. But Nathan isn't sorry for the kisses that James can't remember. Nathan finally musters the courage to tell James how he really feels, but a life-altering event might force them apart before they can ever be together.

Getting It Right A friendstolovers romance The Restoration Series Book 1 edition by AM Arthur Romance eBooks

I wanted to like this book. I've liked other AM Arthur books. But Getting It Right was angst overload. Let's see...in the first few chapters there is (or mention of): sexual assault (several types), child/teen sexual abuse, suicide, infidelity (unprotected), drunken blackouts, alcoholism, minor character death/pulling the plug, drug addicted parents, parents selling their children's bodies for drugs, depression, a violent attack/beating, guilt, rape, and nightmares. In later chapters we get (or have mention of) gruesome murders, more alcoholism, spousal/child abuse, an eating disorder, forced tube feeding, PTSD, paranoia, drug abuse, cancer, parent issues, a stabbing, shootings and (perhaps) paralysis. God, I'm sure I'm forgetting several things. It was like a kitchen sink of sad depravity. There wasn't a single light moment in this book. They spent so much time at the hospital with various characters that it should have been an episode of Grey's Anatomy.

The ending/conclusion of the "mystery" was so ridiculous and nonsensical that I was just rolling my eyes. Also, not to be spoilery, but the ending shows that Arthur has no idea what a law enforcement background check entails.

The MCs spent so much time arguing, being disappointed in each other or needing "space/time" away from each other that I couldn't figure out how/why they wanted to be together except that they'd "always loved each other" and been friends for a long time. Really? Could have fooled me.

Other characters popped in and out with very little to do other than create more angst or misunderstanding. I guess Arthur was trying to tie in the characters from her other books and preview future characters. But in the end, it was just too many characters randomly brought in for no reason and they all had significant issues. I had to force myself to finish this book. There was not a bit of this book that I enjoyed. I didn't really even like one of the MCs very much.

Getting It Right A friendstolovers romance The Restoration Series Book 1 edition by AM Arthur Romance eBooks Reviews

Jay and Nate have been friends for many years. Both of them work with batterd, or abused or gay victims. James is therapist and Nathan is a police detective. Have has become always loved being with Jay, and Nat has always been in love with Nate.

Have realizes that he has always loved Jay but didn't think that it was a "gay" love. Telling James this info ends in an argument and Nate decided to th off and do more investigation of the serial murder case. Shortly after Jay gets a call from the hospital t doping him that Nate has been severely brutalized and Nat should get to the hospital.

I read white a bit of M/M literature. I am not complaining when I say that many of the stories are a
little story and lots of sex, or a lot of story and no sex. This book is the right mix of all elements and I am hoping to find book two of the series.

I hope you all will enjoy this book.
Ok, so....first... SPOILERS! There are spoilers in my review. Read it at your own risk, disliking my reviews will not make me change them.
I waited so long to read this and I have no idea why because I really enjoyed it!! I figured with this author, I would anyway so why I took so long i'll never know...

James Taggert, I know I met in another book, and Jaime and Alessandro, and even Ezra I remember from other books but I don't remember what and where so I'm gonna have to refresh and re-read. There is a lot of stories within a story here, so I feel like I should know who most of these people are, and I did to an extent, but...even though I love all characters connect from different series in different books, I hate not having a reading order so I can know where I met whom from where!
In saying that though, I remember not liking James in the other one, mostly for what he done to Ezra, but seeing him in this one, I 100% understand where he was coming from.... does it make it right? No, but he wasn't the jerk I remembered. He's got some heavy guilt goin on and has for the last 20 years since his sisters death, his mom is also batteling mental health issues and it all falls on James to sort it out....Luckily, he's had his best friend the last 15 years Nathan, although harboring major feelings for him, he's never said anything about it for fear of ruining their friendship though. One drunken night, which is common due to him being a functioning alcoholic, he kisses Nathan.

Nathan, a detective and confirmed, straight, forever bachelor get kissed by his best friend James and hasn't been able to stop thinkin about it. Finally putting himself out there to James and getting rejected he puts himself on the line for a case he's working on and ends up getting badly hurt. James had rejected him because he didn't want to ruin their friendship, he didn't want to hurt him. now badly hurt and running from the rejection and shame of what happened he goes to his parents to heal himself. It takes a while and I love how James didn't give up on him . Emailing him every single day because Nathan refused to talk to him or see him. He didn't give up though. Esecially someone like James who would normally bounce from man to man, really showed Nathan was different. I read some reviews that said that they didn't feel any connection between these two, but I dunno how people didn't see that. I'm a sucker for GFYs I guess, because I love the whole friends to lovers story. Sometimes it does take people years or a tragedy or thinking you've pushed someone away before you realize you feel differently about them.. I think friends first is an awesome start. They were good together, they were there for each other, they wanted to make each other better people. Who wouldn't like that?

I really felt for james' sponser/Nathans detective friend Wally. I read the first chapter from the last book and i'm glad I got to read about him in this one first because his actions to his son are a hard pill to swallow and if anyone understands addiction, it makes you a completely different person and I was glad to see that he's a different person now. It's all apart of the story within the story, but I feel like it was a good segue, even if it did break my heart a little bit. I'm glad he was there for James when he wanted to quit drinking and even more glad when they needed him at the end, I gotta say I did not see that coming at all and it had me on pins and needles for a solid few minutes. Shew.... overall though, I'm really excited about this series and I can't wait to read about Theo next!
