Martin’s sister was dumped by her boyfriend and has nonrefundable reservations at a fancy spa resort. Martin comes with her for moral support and you know, spa! The two of them are so cute together, arguing like loving siblings will. What they agree on is the hunk wearing the speedo at the pool. Eye candy, yes sir!
Unfortunately, the next time Martin meets Rod, the gorgeous swimmer, he’s half drunk, has to pee and is locked out of the hotel room. Naked. Embarrassing!
I admit it, made me laugh. He’s a teacher for pete’s sake! We can’t be locked out of our hotel rooms. And not naked! But meeting a hot man by the spa, toe jobs and general hotness? Might make it worth it.
Just an aside, I won’t say who does it, but my absolute favorite part was a Valentine card delivered “with a fully loaded breakfast tray this morning, starkers and with the card tucked between his buttocks. I’ve no idea how he managed to get up the stairs that way…” That made me laugh out loud and even now, picturing it, makes me smile.

So it turns out that I’ve read this before. If you haven’t already guessed that. I’ve even reviewed it for the blog when it was part of the Brit Boys On Boys anthology. Granted it took a man nakedly stumbling ’round a hotel floor for me to remember, but I did finally catch on! And since the review I wrote before was rather short (as most antho reviews tend to be with me) here is the new and improved version. With bonus wordiness!
While travel-writer would not be my go-to for an alternate (seducing) personality, I have to admit that I like how Martin was able to act his way into a most deliciously toppy one-night-stand. Maybe he needed to be someone else for a bit, maybe he just needed to stop focusing on the inconsequential s*** for a bit, but when Martin decides to let it all fly it does fly far and hard. It also gets its toes sucked almost to the point of nuclear explosion. Which, not a kink of mine, but one well written enough that I could definitely see the fun in it.
That bonus personality does tend to lead to some rather embarrassing consequences (of course it does!). But all’s well that ends well… And it ends very very well. Without giving away any spoilers, Rod is quite a nice character and I do enjoy watching him work. Too cute. Plus, it led to a very nice wrap up to very amusing (if a bit embarrassing for Martin) situation.
Like I said last time, I really enjoyed this short story and I totally recommend it. It is well rounded, has great characters, and has enough steamy bits to keep you on your toes!
What a thoroughly enjoyable book! And really funny too! Martin goes to a hotel with his sister for a getaway after she was dumped by her boyfriend. After a night of drinking, Martin gets up to go to the bathroom. Seeing that he is in a strange place and fuzzy from the drinks, he opens the wrong door and ends up out in the hotel hallway! Naked!! His sister is passed out and won't wake up. What is he going to do?
When someone enters the hallway and sees Martin locked out, Martin is mortified! Not only because of his lack of clothing, but because its the smoking hot man-Rod-he witnessed swimming at the pool this afternoon! Rod is amused by Martin's predicament and offers to help. As Martin accepts his help, he's surprised by Rod's forwardness. Things go straight to smoldering in a matter of minutes! Martin has never been good at seduction, but things feel different with Rod. What is he going to do? Slink away or take the bull by the horns and tell Rod what he wants???
Josephine Myles tells this endearing story inspired by a friends' drunken escapade! Once you read the blurb, you are left smirking, and you just have to read it!

Funny and entertaining romance with appealing charachters.
I have several of her stories that are quick, funny, and happy with interesting characters - loved Rod - I like stories that make me happy.
Really good and fast pace.
